Exploring Okinawa | Tomori Stone Lion

Writer's picture: Amy SAmy S

It may be nearly 80 years since the Battle of Okinawa, but its memory lives on throughout the island. Some of these places were preserved, others made into memorials. This site is famous for being a lookout safety spot for American troops. The shisa lion dog is a protector, and man was it was a protector on that fateful day. I highly recommend everyone visiting to see at least one war site while you're visiting. And if you are lucky enough to live here, please, educate yourself and go see many places and take the entire family.

The Tomori Stone Lion is located in Yease, a good stop off on your way to or from the Peace Memorial Park.
