Exploring Okinawa | Murasaki Mura's Lantern Festival

It's a scene taken right out of the old Ryukyu Kingdom, and that's because, well, they built it as a movie set for that period of time. Luckily for us, they kept it and made it a tourist attraction. It's a beautiful uninhabited village done in the old style. And every year, they really put on a show. Here is where the Lantern Festival takes place and I cannot recommend visiting this time of year enough.

Even if you don't come here for a photoshoot, there is something for everyone. A kids play area with games and a small petting zoo, to taiko drum performances and other world musicians and dancers. It really is a beautiful place to experience cultures of all kinds but especially that of Okinawa.
